The Australian Calisthenics Theatre Company (ACTC) is a brand new dance company for Calisthenics performers in South Australia.
Privately held, ACTC is auditioning over 120 Calisthenics performers on January 13th to select a final performance ensemble, which will consist of approximately 60 girls between the ages of 7 and 28.
“The quality of dancers will be exceptional. Most are balletically trained to a very high level, and are incredibly experienced performers who have been competing on stage for many years”
Carly Aherne, Business Director
Taught by SA’s leading Calisthenics choreographers and technique coaches, the ACTC Ensemble will perform 3 spectacular shows at the Festival Theatre on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30 June, 2024.

After the recent announcement of Australian Calisthenics National Competitions not going ahead in 2024, Brooke Brown and Carly Aherne used their combined skills and experience to create ACTC.
Intensive weekly training will commence on January 20th, giving the coaches and Ensemble only 5 months to create a spectacular 2-hour production called ‘A Symphony of Calisthenics’.
“The majority of interest is coming from elite Calisthenics who would have otherwise participated in Nationals competitions. The level of talent on stage at Festival Theatre will be exceptionally high – the very best that Calisthenics in South Australia has to offer”
Brooke Brown, Artistic Director
In a ground breaking fusion of athleticism, musicality and visual artistry, ‘A Symphony of Calisthenics’ will present a multi-sensory experience that defies convention.

Integrating the strength and grace of Calisthenics with the emotive power of live music and the visual allure of artistic expression, “A Symphony” will be an immersive performance that will transcend traditional boundaries of this uniquely Australian sport.
“There’s a sense of excitement because the ACTC concept is offering an entirely new experience to those who love to train and perform in this uniquely Australian sport.”
Brooke Brown, Artistic Director
ACTC will showcase all disciplines of calisthenics, including Marching, Clubs, Rods, Dance and Aesthetic in a commercial production that will be showcased to the public at Festival Theatre on 29th and 30th June.
Kym Purling, SA-based, world-renowned pianist and composer, will be the Musical Director alongside a 14-piece orchestra.
“It feels like the Calisthenics community have been waiting a long time for something like this and it’s just fantastic to see the vision becoming a reality.”
Carly Aherne, Business Director

Tickets to ‘A Symphony’ at Festival Theatre will be available in early March 2024 via Ticketek. Ticket information will be provided as it becomes available.
